Quit Smoking is a bitch!

And what I have found out is that a lot of other friends have decided to hop on it as well.. Steady, Chief, Jane and her BF, Gee and other non JS people.
I have quit for 2 years before and started up again .. so total I have smoked for 13 years. I am a true smoker.. In the car, after meals, ciggs back to back on the patios of clubs, with black coffee.. Anytime I step with my left foot I needed a cigg. LOL
I just wanted to give a shout out to anyone who has quit or decided to quit on July 1st 2008 and tomorrow we celebrate the 2nd week!
This is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. Emotionally and Physically.. Currently I'm in the mourning stage.. Very sad as well my body trying to repair my lungs.. It hurts.
Thank you Pawn for putting up with me, supporting me, keeping me sane and reminding me of the track to health .
And big ups to the nonstop text support group of my homie Tim and Chief.
I never knew how much of a prisoner I was until this time because in February I also quit smoking Weed. I think that if you still smoke weed its WAY Easier!
You never know how f**ked up ciggs are until you decide do get them out of your life.. I associated myself as a smoker since I was a lil kid...so now not being one almost makes me uncomfortable.. Like a totally different person… I would never think of quitting these things as recognizing your in recovery... and take it one day at a time.. like NA or AA.

I underestimated these fukkers!

it is a bitch...But we are Badder Bitches than those nasty, stinky cigs! We can do it! We are WAY too cute to cut our lives short... i'm gonna visit that website and educate myself. Thanks Blaze for starting this and saving our lives!

I had to take a complettely different route to work cause i would always light up at the same spots....

I had to stay out of the smoking patio

I even had to change my drink of choice

my insurance even had a support line that called me every so often for support!!!



every day that i made it i kept telling myself one more day..

after a week i kept telling myself I did it for a week I can go another day

after a month i kept telling myself I did it for a week I can go another day

and so on!!

I quit cold turkey in March 2006 and have never looked back. Best of luck to you all. Use that money to invest in gold. Seriously.

YES I had to quit drinking coffee.. MAN that was f**ked up.. anytime I get a nice hot cup of black drip coffee it only makes me really sad.. like REALLY sad.. and with the driving.. that's a good idea.. Cuz I would light up in certain areas too.

I know people have seen my updates on MySpace about it.. So sorry if this annoys anyone.. But if feels good to SHOUT IT OUT. Its all I talk about. I'm actually ok on the patios.. But with the drinking.. Sometimes I get erked.. But I come thru in the end. have to learn to be around that..

my werd of advice

• tell all yur friends yur quitting (such as this post this way they won't let u grub from them and it feels good to know u have a support system in place.

• DO NOT SUPPLEMENT! yur job is to eliminate 1 thing. and that 1 thing is cigarettes. when u think like that vs. say "ohh well ill chew gum instead" yur not playing the mental game right. it's only 1 thing.

• everything in yur life has to stay the same. don't change where or how u party. the fact of the matter is, u wont ever be able to get away from smokers. it makes u stronger when yur around them and quite frankly, considering we are all constant club goers where the lot smoke, being in those environments as anon-smoker makes u a stronger non-smoker.

my 4 year old boy telling me that my mouth did not smell like garbage really made me happy my girl even do she did not see me smoking knew I did and is happy. that I no longer smell like smoke over all I love family and myself so it had to stop. knowing that not only am I taking care of myself but also my family has made it easier.

I got lucky with ciggs.. I was candy flippin and god came down and touched me(devine intervention)..
and I realized I was never gonna smoke again...
that was at together as one in 2001.
now if (s)he could come back and get me off weed I would be substance free and a lot happier...
good luck... stick to it.. you'll be happier in the long run...

Funny, I just quit myself. It's been a month now - no ciggs. This will probably be my 3rd or 4th time ever quitting in my life, so we'll see what happens - haha. But, as of now, I am done for LIFE. I have no interest what-so-ever to start up again and haven't had a craving in a couple of weeks.

Asides from quitting the smoking, my word of advice is to start getting physical and exercising those damaged lungs of yours. I have been riding my bike at least 5 miles every day and I feel great.

Congrats to everyone that has made the effort to improve your health.

that is what is helping me a LOT.
So instead of finishing my warm cup of coffee in the morning and thinking "FUCK, this would be good with a fag"
Instead, I have learned to mentally talk to myself "damn it feels good to not be inhaling all that Cigarette pollution and I still smell good"

you can retrain the way your brain thinks with a bit of work

anyone remember that public service commercial with the kids out at the arcade and there is a dude peeping some girls and one of the is smoking and he exclaims..."yuck, she smokes"
that is how I feel when I see pretty girls smoking... what a waste.
I am very happy to hear many of you are heping yourselves in such a positive way..

and YES all my friends know i have quit.. hahah maybe they are sick of me talking about.. i run my life just as i did before.. but i chew reg gum and not drink coffee no harm no faul.. esp after 13 years of black lungs

OH and yes physical exerise is helping too.. i am now back into a dance studio almost 5 days a week!

Yes it has been quite a struggle for myself to quit so far. Im just tryin to stay active and keep my mind off of cigs in which ever way i can. The beginning of july was my planned quit date, but i regret to say that i have given in to a couple drags on 2 separate occasions since the first of the month
Very disappointed in myself for doing it, but ive now realised that my last hurdle to jump is just getting over smoking while i get a good buzz on. Im sure if i kick that then it should be smooth sailin from here on out

Ive now been cig free for the past seven days, and i DO NOT plan on looking back. Especially now that so many more of you have quit, it only makes it that much more motivating to keep going with all of you.

Next step......sign up for the gym

after that.......free tickets to the gun show if anyone wants em.

30 days for me!

And i still feel sadness at times.. like i lost a friend..but a LOT easier

but when i get a buzz the craving is still there.. really thats the only time its gets a lil rough.. but i still got my sangria Orbits gum.. (FTW)

actually last weekend.. it was really strange.. my craving got soo harsh that it felt like the 4ish day that i quit..

I have taken 2 puffs of pot in the last month (diff times).. not to proud but prolly would not have been tempted if i did not quit smoking ciggs.. but that cannot happen anymore as my job DT.

yes, blaze & company, i am going just about 2 months strong and feeling great!

i've been riding my bike more and more every single day; redeveloping my lung capacity and breathing techniques. it feels SO good to not be wheezing after just a little bit of basic exercise.

smoking is definitely out of my life and my goal is to hit this 50 mile bike ride down in Ensenada next month!

funny you say that cus i've been that way my whole life. i can smoke a cig one night and that's it none. i dont buy packs i dont smoke during the day it's only when im really effed up that i will smoke like 2 puffs and i get that nicotine high and feel like im gonna pass out!

but that's not to dismiss everyones hard efforts on here. i think it's awesome that you all have decided to better your health and the environment. and im also glad to see that everyone seems to be focusing on exercising cus you could easily gain some serious weight through this rough time.

i use to be a size zero before i had my son but that was mainly due to the fact that i was in ballet,fencing, running on the beach all the time and oh yeah i use to party super hard. so a balance meal and regular sleep just wasnt happening. im not a fat cow but it is nice to finally have boobs and a butt, i just need to tone up a bit.

Congratulations to all of you who are quitting the smokes...

I just passed my 2 months about a week ago, and man...one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. You don't realize how bad of an addiction cigarettes are sometimes.

But now that I have quit, I honestly feel like I can do anything I set out to do.

We are all making ourselves healthier, we are no longer endangering the lives of our loved ones because we smoked around them, we don't stink, etc.

I have gained some weight...but I would rather gain wait because you can lose that. We can't necessarily gain back the part of our lives we shortened.

I recently told a friend..who asked me if it gets any easier because he is on day 15...
I can't even take a puff....because I know if I do..I have to start counting my days over. And it just isn't worth starting over to me!

back in high school i was a chain smoker. one day my friend bet me $20 that i couldnt quit.

i took that bet and havent smoked a cigg since. now a days the smoke actually gives me a headache...

and girls who DONT smoke are hella cuter than ones who do..

so gross when your making out with an ash tray! eeww!! haha

i'm still hanging in there. it has been since April, but i have to admit I have had the occasional cig on the weekend. Does that make me a smoker still? =(

Even though you dont know me, you have my support on quitting cigarettes. I can't seem to kick the bad habit myself, but i KNOW it's a mental game. GOOD LUCK!!!

If this gives you a motivation, consider this:

If you were to smoke 3 packs a week, you have wasted, a total of $1,000 a year that you could've invested in a mutual fund or something else.
