HERE IS A REVIEW OF THE NEW SPOT.....
Since the Old Town opening in 2000, Harney Sushi has accumulated numerous awards in the San Diego dining community, and has become a landmark of cutting-edge sushi and Asian-inspired lounge ambiance. This edgy sushi bar entered a neighborhood otherwise solely defined by tacos and tequila and, to some surprise, spiced up Old Town and developed a more-than-consistent following with the signature \"funk shui\" vibe. And now, not surprisingly, Harney Sushi announces the launch of a second location in Oceanside.
Harney Sushi will celebrate the opening of its newest restaurant at 301 Mission Avenue in Oceanside with a VIP preview and grand opening party on June 27th from 7-10pm. Guests will taste and sip the Harney rolls and updated cocktail menu, soak in the new, more spacious design, and co-mingle with local dignitaries, sports figures, and media personalities amid excess miso. While local scenesters may expect an open bar and hosted fare at restaurant openings, it\'s not every day that Unwritten Law performs an acoustic set. In addition to a live set by Unwritten Law, guests will enjoy the local beats of DJs Matty A and Kingsley.
Much like the original Harney Sushi in Old Town, the Oceanside location will offer a menu of fine seafood-inspired appetizers, entrees and innovative rolls. Specialty rolls from the Harney kitchen include the Miso Harney with eel, cream cheese and avocado, tempura fried to perfection and covered in eel sauce and sesame seeds, the Bomb James Bomb - a tempura fried cali roll with cream cheese, topped with spicy scallop, spicy mayo and eel sauce, and more favorites like the Afterburner and the Dank Roll. Entrees include Teriyaki Beef or Chicken, Chicken Katsu, and Unagi Don - baked, B-B-Q eel served over rice and smothered with eel sauce. Recommended appetizers include the Monkey Brians - tempura fried mushroom caps stuffed with spicy tuna, served open with spicy mayo and eel sauce, and Sauteed Calamari Steak, sliced and sautéed with butter, garlic, wine, mushrooms and onions.
During the grand opening party, a silent auction will benefit the California Surf Museum, and auction items include surfboards, skateboards, and surf photography. Harney Sushi Oceanside will also be contributing 5% of its first week sales to the museum. Proceeds from the auction and donations will benefit the Paddle Out Campaign, a program created to finance interior improvements at the museum\'s new location.
The new Harney Sushi in Oceanside features a brand new, spacious venue located just two blocks from the Oceanside Pier in the recently completed Oceanside Terraces development. Oceanside Harney will share the same ultra-hip vibe of the Old Town Harney, but laced with an elegant new feel and a modern eco-friendly design from Bluemotif Architecture.
The 3,500 square-foot interior and 425 square-foot patio will offer seating for 155 and include both sake and sushi bars, a VIP room, built in DJ booth, 600-gallon fish tank, waterfall backdrop, and an ethanol fireplace. Ample street parking is available at the corner of Mission Avenue and Cleveland Street directly across from the restaurant as well as in the Oceanside Transit Parking Structure.

well sometimes in with a new location and brand new everything dates arent always set in stone. they built this spot from the ground up. i knew i had weds nites but didnt know when they would be ready to go.... soooo with that in mind... see you there!!!!!!
it is not a club night... it is for peeps wanting bomb sushi, great beer and saki and to hear some great music...
everything from roots, dancehall, jungle, dubstep etc.... JUNGLE IN THE RAW styleeezzzz
