Re: Live instrumentation

My homeboy shawn plays a sick upright bass. Jazz knowledge and all that. He saw terraform with me @ dark room. He might be down. I'll ask him and tell him to e-mail you.

Re: Live instrumentation

I play trumpet, but I don't have much time, although I would like to devote some of it to working on something, since I neglect the s**t out of my trumpet.

HAHA..i'm trying to start a d'n'b band but i would like it to be more on the improvisational side than just standard drum and bass but at the sime time I need people who are in love with this music and know what sounds good with the rythm.
the other thing is i still want to keep the DJ element by making the jam session a countinuos mix...
get my flow?
I want to mix live instrumentation with electronic drums and synth basses...
kinda what i'm already doing but with more humans and less machines

Re: Live instrumentation

i hear ya...

id offer my time but its kinda filled up at the moment.. working on two different albums and some other stuff..

i used to play in a live dnb band that was along the lines of what you your talkin about...

we were called TRIBASE... (sounds like TREE BASS)

Keyboard / synth player this cat from germany...

Electronic Drums / sample triggerer from scottland...

Live drum kit form Mid West

EWI / Sax from New England (R.I.P Brian Oliver)((reason we broke up))

Me on acoustic / electric frettless / effected bass...

tunes were laid out very much like a jazz standard.. where you had an intro... then the head (tune) then solos etc etc...

was a good time i miss it.. it was the best live dnb thing i was ever involved in... I have a cd we did somewhere here... maybe ill post some of the tunes...

Re: Live instrumentation

in my humble opinion, you don't have an improv band unless you have a bad ass drummer. maybe since you are doing drum and bass, you could have a couple of drummers and incorporate loops too. just feed the drummers a click track.
