what kind of drum machine do you use, what techniques? I have a
Boss DR-202 it was cheap, is simple to use and rocks for amateur drums and bass. |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
that is my favorite part of making jungle---programming the beat...
RM1x and Rs7000 both have the same exact sequencer block.
but i do have to say Tee-bee is a master at programming beats and i mean step programming not just cut, copy & pasting samples... |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
step recording on drum machine is just like fruity loops. and usually a good way to learn breaks and paternz.other wise i would go with a sampler. i don't know if you can step record with the dr-202 though. |

I love the TR babies, specialy the 505 and 606 ( the portable ones ). Hook up the batteries and headphone and you can do your sweet step programming in the bus. |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
The X-Base 09 is fun. It is 808 style porgramming with 909 sounds, but you can tweek out the sounds so it does not sound like a straigt 909. It is cool to jam with. You can midi synch it to another sequncer, too. |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
save your dough and buy an MPC!!!
you should be able to crank out some nice beats on the 202-especially if the pads are velocity sensitive. |

and for real, I had an mpc and they really aren't that great for yer studio. there are much better things to spend your money on than a toy sampler with pads |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
i have to say that the korg blackbox (em-1) is a break machine. kind of visual thing, you can plan the beat out however you want. Plus witha sampler and other things, serious sound will ensue... |

I really like my RM1X for drums. It has so many great drum kits and so many ways to customize. I was actually looking for something to top it, havent found anything yet for what I need. |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
i've used that Dr Rhythm box before but never tried the step sequencer on it. just recorded hits at my homies pad & took em home to sequence. i do step recording on an old MC-303 but use drum sounds from an RS-5.
i can actually get a lot done faster when programming drumz wit the 303. probly jus cuz i been usin the same gear for too long... |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
I had the machine drum for a few months...Very punchy sound I love it but think it's too pricy for what it does.
great filters and sounds..perfect for electroclash and that style...good snares for d'n'b..needless to say i sampled the s**t out of it before givin it back.
hopefully i'll have the cash to get one when the price lowers... |

Re: who is into programming drum machines?
I think it's worth every penny...even though it's expensive, the sounds you get out of it are ridiculous! and static samples don't do the thing justice...the real beauty of the box lies in its parameter locks. |
