ok this forum doesn't really have anything to do with jungle... i'm looking through the posts and i don't see any related to jungle.

should we move this to fnorg?

Do I have to go back and bump up all the posts that we F IRST posted to convince you that HIP-HOP DOES IN FACT RELATE TO JUNGLE????

Just because there are discussions in here currently that have to do with hip-hop and what's happening currently in it, doesn't mean that conversation regarding jungle/hip-hop will not take place. There have been MANY threads relating directly to the junlge/hip-hop relationship in here.

The culture is similar and relates as well. Junglists ARE bboys n bgrrls. Hiphop culture IS junlge culture!!!!

jungle DID NOT come from hip-hop... it came from techno. there is no arguing that fact.

the hip-hop scene will never merge with the dnb scene. junglists are not b-boys and don't think the same way.

although I tipaically tend to agree with raggamuff..

hip hop is NOT jungle...
listen to any hiphop show on the air or internet and you won't hear an ounce of jungle. Go to any hip hop shop and ask them for the new bad co. and they look at ou as if yer speaking french... there are people in both scenes that apreciate both styles but they exist completely independant of one another...

hip hop is much older and has developed as one of the only truly american art forms along with graffiti and jazz

jungle is uniqly british and although it has recently traveled around the world...it carries much less clout than hip hop.....

if your eliminating non-jungle topics hip hop is a good choise... if you want an open forum about all styles it should be on JS.

ragga on the other hand was part of the roots of jungle and although it is true that hip hop prucers influenced jungle... ragga producers made jungle back in the day.... ragga is a british version of raggae and dancehall an jungle is its logical progression....


unfortunatly the hip hop comunity as a whole does not give the proper respect and credit to jungle so I don't see why we should give it back....

oh and techno did not come from hip hop, more like hip hop came from techno

although there is some cross polinization in the scenes, jungle parties rarly have hip hop rooms, and I have never ever heard any dnb at a hip hop show...

if jungle were hip hop there would be open turntable battles at jungle shows.. or battles period, the same would be true for the MC's....
and like I said if you turn on your favirte hip hop station and listened for 1 month straight you would here evry type of hip hop in existance, but you won't hear jungle....

and if i'm wrong just let me know what hip hop stations play any dnb jungle what so ever.... and please don't mention power tools on power 106 as it is now and has always been a techno show...

hiphops roots extend quite a few years before planet rock…

block parties, soundsystems, two turntables, kool herc… thats the beginning of hiphop in america. a lot of that was taken from jamaican soundsystems and dj'ing. bring in kool herc and grandmaster flash playing just the break and you got hiphop music. add some dancers dancing to the break and you got bboys… add some kraftwerk and an ill break and mc's and you got planet rock. fast forward to the late 80's an you got british cats fusing elements from disco, funk, hiphop, techno and playing these on 2 turntables… blah blah blah. its all interconnected but the genres are so far removed from each other now that its like night and day.

ok I was talking aboout tecno not comming from hip hop, but yer right it came from many elements including disco, funk , and jazz... however the british cats yer talking about were making techno "hardcore" after they copied acid house from chicago, but with that logic there should be a forum for funk, jazz, disco , techno, raggae, and anyother music that influenced jungle today... and in that case the site wold be music scene not JUNGLESCENE..
