Re: jeru the damaja // devine design

I remember a story my brother told me of a Jeru show where he forgot the words to his own song and just started chanting "Jeru the Damaja aint no amateur" for like five minutes.

Re: jeru the damaja // devine design

Y'all mythalogical niggaz is comical
The astronomical is comin through like the flu bombin you
And embalmin in your crew too
With the musical mystical magical you know how I do
With word attack skills and vocabulary too
My rendition of this Edition is all brand New
You're through I make the planetarian like Doctor Who (who who?)
So Who! (who?)
Born to get tripped on, word is bond
I'm kickin rhymes til the A.M. vultures swarm
Not Quincy but I'm Back on the Block and not sellin crack
I'm comin in with the fat funk flows and tracks
So what you sayin black, with all that yackedy yack
My artifacts can't be beat with bats
I'm sayin, I eat up everthing up on the menu
and bend you and send you swayin, to be continued...

The most beautifullest thing in this world, is just like that!!!
I get in ya
(repeat 4X)

Spur of the moment opponents are suspects
Caught up in precipitation reign of the tech/niques
I speak my concepts freak
The ich-ni-son-shi funk figures of speech
Now that s**t is in the open, I'm open, tokin, scopin
Waitin for the next nigga to get opened on
And break him down like a organic compound
That's the weight of the world as the Earth goes round
Now, how the f**k you sound?
I represent my clique, Microphone Pound
You better pack your leather, dope, or medication for the shakin
Meditation from the earth-to-quakin s**t that we be bakin
Never fakin I gets down for my crown clown
Shakin the membrane of Encyclopedia Brown
Freakin the funk in any throwdown
While you sustain the sounds, up in ya...

The most beautifullest thing in this world, is just like that!!
I get in ya
(repeat 4X)

I comes down breakin ground
So back up offa me and sit yo' ass down
Now when I'm on the microphone I roam through zones
But don't be tryin this s**t at home
No matter what race creed colour him or her
I comes cleaner than Jeru, and Damage an amateur

As chronical facial disorders occur
I'll assassinate your character's caliber
I channel my anger, from the double edged banger (Banger!)
and turn into the microphone strangler
Stop tryin to see where your eyes can't follow
Say goodnight to the world and goodbye to tomorrow
You rave and cuss so it's a must ya get bust
We're not to be f**ked with, Toys Ain't Us
For eternity, through infinity
I eternally, get in ya...

The most beautifullest thing in this world, is just like that!!
I get in ya
(repeat 4X)

What you folks want? Yeah
We got the funk so come on down
What you folks want? Yeah
We got the funk so come on down
What you folks want?
We got the funk so come on down...

Re: jeru the damaja // devine design

i like it...

haven't read this yet, it's an interview:

Opening Act: Jeru The Damaja

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Core / Features
written by Brendan O'Connell
Tuesday - Sep. 30, 2003

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After a short hiatus, Jeru the Damaja is back with a new album (Divine Design), new label (Ashenafi Entertainment) and new website (www.thedamaja.com). SOHH had the chance to speak with Jeru about his new album, relationship with Gangstarr, and future collaboration possibilities.

SOHH: Jeru, I hear you've been on the SOHH.com forums, is that true?

Jeru: No... I haven't been on there. I've been to the site but not the forums.

SOHH: Well somebody was posting under your name on there?

Jeru: really? What did they say?

SOHH: (Reads Jeru excerpts from the SOHH forums.)

Jeru: Well I'm not really sure who that was, but whoever it was, they sound like a true fan so I'm not mad.

SOHH: We've got some pretty nice producers on our boards, they would love to have an artist like yourself use some of their beats, you should give them a listen. Who do you have behind the boards on your new album?

Jeru: I got 2 of my mans... Edd Dontez & Sabor handling the beats.

SOHH: Some people were a little disappointed with the beats on your last album, Heroez 4 Hire. What do you have to say about that and what can we expect from Divine Design?

Jeru: I make music for myself... for the love. I am really happy with the way the last album came out. It sold a nice amount of copies worldwide and I was satisfied with that.

SOHH: Tell me about the new single "War" and why you chose it to be the lead representative for your new album Divine Design?

Jeru: Well, it's just war. That is the state that everything is in right now. War isn't always just physical, it is mental at times, I want people to know this album, my lyrics are on some guerrilla style. Dope beats, dope rhymes, unadulterated hip hop.

SOHH: I'm a huge fan when my favorite rappers pop up in video games with all new tracks. Nature was in Grand Theft Auto III, Red Cafe is in Madden 2004 and you were in TH2004. How did you get on there?

Jeru: Oh yeah, well, one of the skaters from the game, Chad Muska, just got at me. He was a fan and he sought me out, got at people who knew me and said he wanted to work with me. He's a really cool guy, I had no idea he was a fan...

SOHH: I don't want to ask you the same questions you get in every interview so we're gonna do it like this. I'm gonna name somebody in hip hop and you tell me what comes to mind in a word or sentence or two.

Like many of the other Jeru fans, I'd really like to see you reunite with DJ Premier. I thought the lyrics were on point last album but I missed that DJ Premier signature sound. What comes to mind when you hear his name and can we ever expect any music from you two again?

Jeru: I have no idea... only time will tell. We've always seen each other... there never was any ill feelings. I'm in the streets every day and he is too, there is no type of beef between us or anything like that. We just haven't worked together for awhile now.

SOHH: What about Guru, people also have said you've got beef with him. Many have suggested that your track "99.9%" was aimed at him.
Jeru: You know, I don't really have beef with anybody, beef is like, going out there and fightin with somebody, I can honestly say I don't have beef with anybody.

SOHH: Afu-Ra and the Perverted Monks?

Jeru: No, don't know what's going with Afu right now, haven't seen him in awhile. There is some other group out there now callin themselves the Perverted Monks but they aren't my group the Perverted Monks.

SOHH: What about KRS-One? I heard KRS said in an interview that a Jeru-KRS collabo was in the future.

Jeru: We've actually done songs and will do songs in the future, so he was right.

SOHH: What about Ja-Rule? People have said you were mad at Ja for stealin your name.

Jeru: Fans always asked me what is up with that. Fans were sayin, "Yo Jeru, who is this cat stealin your name?" And, "Who is this guy, his name sounds kinda like you?" I'm not pissed, I don't really care.

SOHH: What type of music do you enjoy? What CD's are in your deck right now?

Jeru: Kool G Rap, old school albums, Rakim. Nothing that's out right now.

SOHH: How long have you been studying qigong?

Jeru: That is a secret. It is a secret art.

SOHH: Is independent label paper better than major label paper?

Jeru: Hell yeah independent paper was better than big label paper.

SOHH: How do you feel about people bootlegging your album? I haven't seen it on the net yet but rest assured it will be.

Jeru: Well tell the people this, I wouldn't bootleg their album. That is wrong. I know the true fans will support me. With an independent release like this one, every sale counts. Your purchase could be the difference between another Jeru album droppin or not, remember that.

SOHH: Jeru, I appreciate your time, best of luck with the new album.

Jeru: Divine Design album in stores September 30th, tour coming to your city soon. Shout to all of SOHH, I may have to check out those boards soon for real. Peace
