America's Best Dance Crews - MTV Show
Wow. there are seriously amazing dancers on this show. i never get tired of watching people interpret music and translate it using their bodies as the medium.
i can't wait to see some of the poppers and breakers reppin' LA jungle on this.

dude, remember that kollaboration 2001 / 'elsewhere' clip that was floating around several years ago? one of the kids from the UCI crew Kaba Modern (i hope they win cause they are so sick AND brocked out to daft punk) was the kid who opened in that clip. he was 14 at the time! i'm stoked he stuck with his dancing because it's definitely paying off.

As good as a lot of those dancers are... That show is sooooo hard to watch, with cheezy ass Mario Lopez, and the judges... Lil' Mama, wow... just wow. That is one dull bulb for sure. She's about as sharp and insightful as a bag of wet dogs**t.
Also, that Femme Five or Femme Fattales group or whatever they call themselves, who keep moving ahead to the next round even though they completely suck...
Kaba Modern is pretty dope, and I like the jabbawockees a whole lot too. def a lot of talent on the show, but you just get the feelin' that the producers have their own agenda...

big ups Yuri from Kaba Modern!! she and i used to take dance classes together at Homeland. I saw her on tv when i was flipping thru channels and was like hey!! nice to see so many talented people on tv that you see in everyday life. la/socal has a lot of talent. |

i had the misfortune of watching that show in the hotel during this last SD mission... i gave it half a chance... then they judged the teams battlin....
They chose that wack ass, high school cheerleading, bulls**t ass team over the crew that actually had some skill.
I said "WHAT! oh f**k no!" threw a pillow at the tv and ran out of the room laughing...

Funny you should mention... cause that is what I would think too, but in watchin' the show, he is definitely the most insightful, intelligent, and well balanced judge on the show... and I agree with him the most actually.
If I have to listen to "that was hot" as a critical review of someone's performance one more time, or "make sure you bring it next time" (without any sort of articulated explanation) --- i'll shoot my TV. uuuugh.
PS - The Jabbawockiez are just killing it! So much fun to watch, so creative and inventive, athletic and technical, and their execution is off the charts.

I als really appreciate and enjoy the remixes of all the mainstream songs that the dancers throw down to.
LOVING all the hardcore and old school breaks / jungle drum bits the music producers use. Unexpected to hear on MTV but i bet it's pretty innovative to their younger audience. i wonder who puts together music for the show. Anybody know? |

i agree the show is hard to watch with the mario gayness & judging nonsense but thats why god made tivo, people! i skip all that ish and just go right to the routines. jabbawockeez are KILLING IT!!!! i really hope they win. kaba is super good too. i even kinda have a crush on the breaksk8 dudes. ha!
how much did you love when 'live in color' got voted off (which truy bummed me out cos that bombs over baghdad routine was bananas)and the one girl is so bummed & crying "we worked so hard for this. so so hard" then, during their exit just starts crumping & booty shakin with tears all streaming down her face? daaaaaang. i've save that episode on my tivo and watched it about 10 times. hahaha |

Big up the Jabbawockeez for winning. They were definitely the best, although I thought Kabba Modern should've got 2nd.
I definitely wanna get one of their t-shirts, and the 2nd season starts this summer. Should be interesting what the next crews bring to the table. |
