Re: go-go dancers...
go-go dancers at a dnb party are a touchy subject. as a dancer, i've pondered the thought myself. it depends on the venue and the type of dancers you want to bring in. i've go-goed many a times and being a dnb head ive always thought it would be cool to bring that element to a jungle party... if it is done RIGHT!!! if it were my party id want to set a higher standard than just being hot....u must be hot and feel the bass and work your s**t...pop it lock it and diva it out at the same time...RESPECT the dnb. The staging and costuming would have to be wicked. I feel thats the only way it would work, otherwise it would be cheese times three. |

Re: go-go dancers...
i think as long as they are either to the left or right of the turntables, it'd be cool. and as long as people are dancing and not gawking |

Re: go-go dancers...
Just like its a case of "say no to sequins" here... same applies to go-go dancers... leave it to other s**tty types of dance music that have to have eye candy cos the musics that crap, DnB is better than that. |

Re: go-go dancers...
i'm with bassnutter on this one. go-go dancers have their own kind of music. its not DNB at all. and ofcourse the guys r going to be gawking...(we're guys what do u expect). and i know some of my homies will even be trying to get thier digets. go-go dancers would just kill the whole DNB party and the vibe. i mean whats the point of go-go dancers anywiase...i know for a fact (and i know others can agree with me) that there are better and even better dancers for hire out there. whats the point of haveing 2 girls just danceing at their own pace next to the dj? i don't see any use for them...do u guys? and wouldn't it be better do have some dancers u can admire for thier skill instead of their beauty? pretty girls r cool and everything, i mean don't get me wrong i loooove girls, but if i wanted that kind of show i would just go to a strip joint. ok ok i know i sound pissed or something, but i'm just makeing a point. if anyone out there can prove me wrong...by aaaaall means go ahead. i know theres another side to this and i would like to hear it. well thats it, bye |

Re: go-go dancers...
and julestylez, i get what u'r saying too. it has to be done RIGHT! none of that 70's cage danceing. but i would still rather see dancers on stage or in a circle than just...there. i have nothing against go-go danceing or the dancers...i just don't see a point to it... ? |

Re: go-go dancers...
my last girlfriend was a gogo dancer, so I got to see them used in dozens of different types of parties, from frat gigs to concerts...
I think gogos are best suited as an "element" in the creation of the "big club" ambiance seen at trance parties, snooty clubs, las vegas strip nightclub etc... placed were the girls are wearing their leather pants, and every guy has his coolest flames or dragon nightclub shirt on...
the la drum and bass scene (to me) has a more intelligent, etclectic, earthy feel.... and as a general statement, I doubt it would be a positive element to the scene... |

Re: go-go dancers...
I go-go dance every other Saturday for a club in San Diego. It can add to the atmosphere of the club but for a D&B event i don't think it would work! People are there for the music not some scantly clad girls! |

Re: go-go dancers...
I agree, BUT at the same time i disagree. THe gogo that i am talking about wouldn't really be considered your stantanrd gogo. You almost would need a new name for it. YOu all will just have to wait and see when I start producing my shows. =) |

Re: go-go dancers...
I think it would be chill to have some dope ass female dancers...butnot "go-go" Dancers. I as a female dancer( Dubsteppin-dnb reppin-hip hop stilo ) am tired of seeing half naked femals who can even get down sick up on stage. It cool to dress sexy- but for Gods sake-have some class. I don't thing "go-going" would even go right to our music, and id laugh at any go-go dancer who would try! ha. If you want some real femals who get down sick, while maintaining their self respect-Holla!! My sister and i would love to dance-and bring our flava to the floor!!

Re: go-go dancers...
interesting thread.
maybe I'm not seeing the whole picture, but it seems to me that jungle is among the least misognynistic music scenes going. there seems to be true respect and equality for the female gender, both on stage and on the floor. adding "dancers" to the mix would throw that equation out of wack, IMO. but I'm an old dude, so I could def be wrong... |

not on stage - side or back stages/cages dedicated to T & A and energy - on stage usually causes problems and needs supervision - especially if there's vinyl in the house |

Re: go-go dancers...
go go dancers are lame. I honestly don't care for them. A bunch of hoochies who can't get through college dancing on a stage or in a cage. Its all to cheezy. I'm married I definitely don't like hearing my wife complain on top of that. If I was single I would still careless. |

Re: go-go dancers...
This is a 6 year old thread, and still nothing has been resolved in the issue of "to Go-Go or not to Go-Go".
Seems like the rule of thumb is...girls are anti, and dudes are pro...in the world of DnB, since 70-80% of attendees are guys, you should be ok. As long as the dancer isn't standing on top of the decks sweating on people...make it an accent, not the focus.
Either way, you'll get a small group of girls and p-whipped guys complaining about it on JS afterwords.
Ce la vie. |

Re: Jungle Theory dancers
thanks again to my anime school girl go go ladies who got crazy on the stage at the last Jungle Theory. We looked hot!!!! And to all those who think go go dancers dont belong to dnb shows well you just havnt seen it done right. It is all about the music but atmosphere is always good too. Come on down to the next one and let me know your opinion. also if there are any down ass bitches who want to partake let me know. Oh yeah and thanks to livin and his break dancing floor and skills... WORD! |
