De La's 3 feet high and rising
Ok, this post is to tear the f**k out of this album!
I gotta get back to work, but I'll start
"Pot Holes In My Lawn" uses P-Funks "not just knee deep," as the main synth hook.
The odele's/yodels/mouth guitar come from an OLD P-Funk song (pre Casablanca) called "Country Boy,"
Then there's that french song that they got sued for where they used a Flo and Eddie song...forgot that...
you see my de la record was stolen out of my car so I forgot some titles...but I'll follow up
So it's "change in speak" that samples Cymande's "Bra,"
Then there's that Steely Dan sample (you know where that is...
Then there's that Hall And Oats Sample "Say No Go"
gotta get back to work...feel free to fill this out

the steely dan sample is on eye know and the song is meg.
another sample on potholes in my lawn is magic mountain by war.
three is the magic number is from a sesame street album w/ a song of the same title.
the guitar on say no go is from the detroit emeralds.

Where can I find that French sample that goes "Egote"! (looking through my "learn how to speak french" lp's lol.........)

Three feet high and rising is one of my all time favorite albums. One of my friends gave me the original me, myself, and I remixes on vinyl. |

Me Myself & I also sampled "Disco Nights" by GQ. I had 3 Feet High years ago & mine got stolen too!
That French song was kinda weird, but then again aren't De La Soul themselves?I HAD the first 4 albums they sample the weirdest stuff I've heard in my life! Prince Paul is crazy!
I love that group to death!- the last album I bought was Stakes Is High, I just found out recently they had a later album called A.O.I. I seen a video called Baby Phat, now here's a question-
Where did they get the "fat fat" sample from? It's on De La Soul Is Dead-That tape of mine died of old age...better then stolen... |
