MUSE REVAMPED with Stakka, Big Bud, ASC and Phear

I looked through the previous pages of threads and couldn't find one for last night, apologies if this is a double post...

Highlights? The "wow" factor of walking into the venue for the first time, Phear's seamless mixing, alllllll of the new ASC bits which sounded heavy as all get out (this man is a mixdown wunderkind) despite being as musical as drum & bass gets, the breakers and dancers giving everybody a show, the sound being loud yet squeaky clean, and meeting a few new faces I only knew through Myspace before.

I cannot say enough good things about the beautiful new venue and the beautiful people who threw, and attended, Muse. Thank you for giving this jaded girl a reason to go to parties again.

I had never been to that club before... the stock exchange is pretty tight. very interesting vibe.. historical blding...and you guys did a good job of decorating. the sound system was absolutely sick. I didn't get there until after 11... caught a bit of ASC's set which set the mood.

had to push my way to the front when big bUd came on. the whole dance floor was bumping and bouncing...yelling and shaking. I danced his entire set and partially lost my voice from screaming with excitement. what a great set :D I think LA treated him proper.

it's almost like 1/2 the club thought the evening ended at 2 or something..because there was like a mass exodus. which is too bad because those that left missed out on Stakka's set. which was banging properly too.

anyway.. it was a LOVELY night... the debauchery of those I love.. getting down.. getting flirty.. having fun. typical muse vibe +. glad it translated great into the new venue.

big ups boys my legs, back, ass and throat are sore from all the boom instigated ass shakin. god that sounds bad.. lol. again-- you always know its a great time when you leave the club looking like you got caught unexpectedly in a rain storm. boh!

ok,here goes.....after going to respect the day before i didnt think i would have the energy to drive all the way back to la the next night on no sleep only to pull another all nighter.. but i apparently did, and i must say it was worth it! walkin' in to the venue (main room) i was takin' by surprise on how nice it was set up .. the sound was crisp clean and extreamly heavy.(just the way i like it)the layout of the venue is great. unfourtunatly i missed phear play.. but arrived to asc hammerin' down with some fresh tunes .. big bud held it down .. really enjoyed what i was hearing. *thumbs up* i left a little into stakka. i was up stairs drinking and peoplewatching from above when security yanked my beer from my hand and walked off with no explanation . i looked at the time and it was only 1:50..didnt even give me a min to pound it down. *thumbs down*..luckly i come prepared with a sixer stratigicaly situated in the back seat of my car.

in all this was a great night...dont think it could have gottin any better from my stand point .. except for security.. good job muse/united family! im glad i pulled it together and came up..definitly worth the trip up .. ill be seeing you again next month..

We had to drive back to San Diego. I liked all 20 minutes of what I heard of Big Bud's set, and that man is a trooper for how many gigs he's played this tour with a scattershot itinerary.

walking into the stock exchange last night was like being in a movie. the long hallway with the roses and candles, then the big marble staircase leading to the HUGE main room was very impressive! so much room to dance! i really like this new venue a lot. the ceiling is like 100 ft tall, it's madness. there's bars everywhere! the outside area doesn't compare to the last couple spots though. the muse crew came swinging with the sound though. god, it was good. just big, crispy and clean. i got there in time for big bud who played a great set, stakka played a great set as well. for some reason it seemed like big bud and stakka decided to dress exactly the same cause i couldn't tell when they had switched over...they both had white tees and hats on...either that or i was pretty sauced (and i was) and got confused in sauce mode hahaha. either way i'm really excited for this new venue and muse. bravo fellas!

aww.. ok. that's too bad you guys had to leave. and yes.. mr bud had a horrendous day of travel that day. he's been zigzagging all over the US for the past two weeks. lol... he did say LA was up there in his fav vibe for shows this tour, though.

oh yeah btw...my only complaint about the night, as was mentioned before....the damn security tried to snatch my beer from my hand at like 2:30. we had just bought it. i wasn't about to let my 8 bucks go down the tubes, so i yanked it back and pounded that f**ker in his face. that s**t pissed me off! just let me chill and finish my beer! other than that, no problemos!

God. What a night. Nice sound. Great layout. Love the stairs but I did get to the point where I was worried I'd fall, haha.

What were they putting in those drinks? Vodka or something? Shit. Thanks to the designated driver. I think I was molesting people or something. hmmm. Or maybe they were molesting me. I can't remember too well, but I KNOW I HAD FUN!

only two points of constructive critism....


1 as mentioned above, the security was awful and need to get handled.

2 watch the vibe of that place... things could get real dirty and "ravey" there... Muse is one of my favorite clubs because of the touch of class that is has always had. please dont loose that.

I wish I would have arrived earlier...

I really really loooove this venue. The music was on-point and I really enjoyed the live art. I saw Tails there, but I didn't get a chance to see him breakdance. I guess I must have missed it =(

I love the venue! i hope the security issues get worked out, that place has a lot of potential. Great re-opening, props to the muse and united crews.

wow, that venue is i think the word would be epic.i caught the end of asc's set and all of big buds and i have to say big buds got the tunes. the sound was banging, theres 4+ bars for easy drinking. you can definatelly see all the hard work and love that went into this show. big ups muse and united

the sound was impressive!! the deejays are sooo far up that it's hard to see what they are doing.. i guess that shouldn't matter but i like to photograph them spinning..

i didn't have any problems with security, but many other ppl i talked to did. which sucks, but the dnb scene is bigger and stronger than bad security, can't wait to see this place host more quality events!!

can't forget to mention that the lighting was very nice. it made for some really colorful photos..

That room is SO BIG. But it still feels private for some reason to me. The venue is sick, the sound is just right, I think the sought after Muse vibe can and will be carried over to the Exchange. Although a bit more interaction between the DJ and the crowd may be necessary....

Best party Ive been to since ive been in LA. The venue is really nice and the sound system was so loud and clear. Plus all the DJs had amazing track selections. See yall next time for sure.

*note to self- don't throw bottles at 300 lbs security guard

Yeah great venue!!! great sound when it wasnt cutting out....great sets (although big bud played for sooo long when i waiting for stakka) but those are minor bs. good times!!

and yeah that toy yelling at security was out of line, but nobody deserves to get beat with a flashlight like that for throwing a bottle at a van.....eh.

see is far from a 'toy' he's a true og. i look up to him. he's not an 'internet celebrity', he throws underground parties strictly word of mouth and mad heads show up. he spins sick dnb, even played at muse recently. so calling him a toy is completely out of line, see's done payed his dues and i've never seen him show anything short of respect to anybody in our scene.

I absolutely love the new venue. The vibe was infectuous....And Big Bud was so sick!!!

Muse is like REVAMPED x 10!!!

Absolutely loved the night!

I was amazed at how large the venue was. I'm a huge fan of old buildings! Walking down the long hallway and up the stairs was a perfect prelude to that enormous room.

The sound was on point. Wow! Rich, full basslines and crisp highs.

I was happy to see that the dancefloor was being put to good use in true Muse fashion.

One thing I will say, is that one of the major (and I mean huge) reasons that I love Muse is the DJ/crowd interaction. And I was sad to see the DJ so high up.

The only thing I missed was turning on to Grand St, opening my windows and hearing what tunes were being rinsed before I even parked.....but everything has to change. Muse left Casey's at its peak.

Keep booking top notch talent and designing those beautiful flyers....I am still part of the MUSE CREW for life, and looking fwd to another edition of Muse v. Bluebeat

And ashleysb, next time you gotta share the "goodies"....you know what I'm talking bout!
