hive out gunned everyone. absolute mayhem from the speakers.
all the other talent did amazing as well, but it was def hive's show. no question
i have only one critisism.... what the HELL was with the dancers this year?
i dont understand how someone could pay for those martial artist dancer/mortal kombat lookalikes... i mean damn. haha.... that was so surreal.
big ups to grapevines and all the amazing artists that made it happen. great party for sure. |

OMG what a night!!! Everyone that was there rocked the f**k out. Set of the night definately goes to J Majik, Wickaman, MCMC & MC J-TEC. They held it down for two hours straight with non-stop energy. Big ups to you guys. Hive rinsed it out hard and Potential Bad Boy closed out the night with a bangin' set. All the talent was hot and the stage effects, lighting and sound was amazing. Thank you to the Avalon for letting us bring drum n bass to the place.

i got there at 3 a.m. (had to close at work) and we had our tickets and everything and the security dude wouldnt let us in!! we payed and everything wtf!?! oh well, f**k it whats you goin do...s**t! i heard potential bad boy train wrecked it haha....wish i could have gotten inside to have heard myself. sounds like everything was super fun tho. the lighting from what i could see outside looked awesome!

Ok, here we go...
$60 in gas to drive myself to LA from SD and back
$30 to get in to the party
$15 to park my car after sweet-talking the parking attendant down $5
$10 for a vodka redbull, $6 for just a redbull, $5 for a bottle of some high-quality h20
$4 for a $6 burger from Carl's Jr.
Seeing all the OG junglist's faces while Hive opened to power ranger chicks with nunchucks and other like weapons...F**king PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would also like to add that I left LA at 12:45 and sat in traffic to SD for 5 1/2 hours trying to get to work by 4:30 after having slept only about 3 hours max. My cellphone battery ran out so I had to pull over at a Denny's in Carlsbad to use a payphone to call my work, blew through $4.50 in change on hold listening to classical music because everyone was so busy at my work they couldn't answer my call for over 10 minutes. I tell them I'm going to be late. I arrive 1 1/2 hours late to work with 3 pissed off managers pulling me into the office. They wrote me up and sent me home...it's a really good thing that people at my job like me cause I could have been canned for sure. So I need to factor in the cost of 3 18-inch Gobbler sandwiches from Gagglione Bros...about $30. Fortunately they believed me and sympathized and there were no hard feelings....
I haven't laughed this hard since like, ummm, last Sunday at Basscon.
This has been the absolute most insane week EVER.
I learned one important lesson: My wallet does NOT like it in the butt...
I'm still laughing all the way to the bank though...

Oh yeah...and today is my 6th day without weed, cigarettes, and any other controlled substances. Good to see so many familiar faces...nice turnout, Grapevinez...you must have made a killing. Congrats.
Oh yeah, and I'll never forget the chick in the miniskirt that stood on the wall outside and showed her rack to all the fools eggin' her on...while she was on a CELLPHONE! OMG!!!!!! I don't think it gets more embarrassing than that...oh yes it does...when someone shouts;"Damn, those are some NASTY TITTIES!!!" right before security came and escorted her out of the party...OUCH! Thoroughly entertaining, I must say...

Good times indeed. The lighting there is str8 insane. Props to Vinez and MCMC for trying different s**t out from the dancers to closing the curtains between DJs etc.. If no one experiments stuff becomes routine which is 'blah'. Much fun partying with homies downstairs from LA homies to Nick (E.I.) to Syze, friends from Colorado... good times indeed |

I forget that there are people in life that don't have a sense of humor. Personally, I've had the greatest week ever, and just was in the mood to share my experience. I never said I didn't have a good time. I know a lot of people were/will be thouroughly entertained by my post, so if you don't like it, STFU! If you're going to come on this forum and criticize people for their posts about their personal experiences, you got a lot to learn, Mr. Candidate.
You are thouroughly uninformed about my intense love for the scene and all the people that put in work, rolling up from SD by myself to show my support and have a good time is an indication of that...I'll let it slide, homie. had a really good time!! got there to see the end of subflo playing. hive was hands down my favorite set of the night. wickaman, jmagik, and pbb all put in solid sets as well, but nothing compares to the tunes that hive was bringin! dopeness.
as xyz said it's cool that grapevinez are trying new things. the curtains, i liked that, kinda gave a 'what's next' type of feel, also felt more like an actual show.
the marial arts dancers however, i gotta say was just weird haha. i was kinda like wtf?! plus, the bo staff guy kicked the tables a couple times. i was surprised that hive didn't bo staff that guy to show him who the real masta is haha j/k. but, like i said, very cool to see some new things being tried to liven up the party  |

Phewee!! Managed to get some sleep at last.
First let me thank all the djs and mc's for putting it down propa Champion Soundz stylee. Josh Mayhem & Frayed Knot opened up with the perfect opening set, setting it up for Scooba & Subflo who raised up the vibe and set the tone for Hive, who threw down a great selection and showed a lot of professionalism and patience with the stage performers during his set.
J Majik never ever dissapoints and with Wickaman B2B for 2 hours the set was so hot it was FIRE!!!
A few people flaked but a good crowd remained for Potential Bad Boy as he brought on the dancehall flavour and closed out the night. All the MC'- BYPASS,DINO,XYZ,J-TEK all did a fantastic job of not only hyping up the crowd but also letting the mixes come through.
Second I wanna thank everyone who travelled from near and far for your dedication in supporting D&B.

that was one great party, you can really tell there was a lot of effort put into the show. the sounds was great, the lighting, and the talent. not taking anything away from anyone cause the music was great start to finish but i gotta give it to the local crew on this one. frayed knot and josh mayhem played a great set of anthems new and old, scooba and subflo raised the energy and set of the night goes to hive hands down. its always a treat to see j majik play and i was feeling the tunes him and wickaman were dropping. caught the first few tunes of potential and i loved what he was playing. im gonna say it again, set of the night goes to HIVE. big ups all the mcs for the night, they all definatelly kept the vibe moving perfectlly with the tunes.
i wasnt feeling the karate dancers either but it waws something new and different. all in all the show gets many thumbs up. |

The sound system was crisp and clear - and the bass was hittin.
The dj's rocked it, especially Hive, serious sickness. J Majik and Wickaman brought crazy energy, and I really enjoyed the back 2 back set from Scooba and Subflo...
The stage and the lighting was another level, just a great nite in general...

Grapevines definatly knows how to throw a party, everyone I met that night was having an awesome time. The sound system was great and the drinks were stiff. Real late on here! But I have to let M and the whole Grapevinez team know what a special event this was. All of your hard work really showed through.
What a class event. I really liked the curtain closing between DJ's. Everyone I saw on this particular night had a huge smile and a noticably positive attitude.
Can't wait for History III to be at this venue!!! New heights indeed. |
