Makoto & Deeizm - Lyceum
Let me start from the beginning. Kris, thank you so much for coming out and running sound. I know that it wasn't the easiest place to deal with - parking, setting up, sound check, NEIGHBORS. But everything sounded great and we always appreciate the DEEP sound system.
Knotty Boy - "comedy hour and dildo's" WTF hahaha. I really enjoyed your set. I am happy people got there pretty early to hear you.
Philly B - you played rock! :-) Good times, you had the dancefloor moving.
Phear - I am sorry I had to miss most of your set due to picking up the djs. But, I am sure you didn't disappoint the crowd! People were shaking their booties when I came in.
Makoto & Deeizm - what can you say?! We had the awesome opportunity to hear some of the new jazz stuff they have been working on with some musicians from Japan (I think). I love that the crowd just swarmed the front of the dj booth and stage and really got to appreciate the talent of the two. Deeizm is the s**t. I have been saying this forever! From her flows to her beautiful voice. Girl got down to some SWV s**t! Good times all around.
This was something new we wanted to take a chance on, running breaks with drum and bass, and having a new venue. I would say that 90% of the people in there weren't even drum and bass heads, and they all had a great time. Thank you all!
And lastly, I wanted to thank the boys of lyceum. It was fun. Extra thanks to Lokei. . constant work together...getting s**t done!
Cheers to everyone!

Re: Makoto & Deeizm - Lyceum
That spot was pretty tight. Mel, you're right, there were a lot of new faces there and many of them were not avid drum n' bass listeners, but they were definitely all having a good time! When I walked in, Phear was ripping it on the decks...man's got skills! I saw Makoto and Deeizm at Funktion on Wednesday, and I gotta say that the set was just as good the second time around. Deeizm's stage presence is full of energy and passion and the chick can SING! Makoto's a really good dj. Flawless mixing all night! Anybody know who does that Michael Jackson tune?
Nice job, Lyceum crew. You guys put in a lot of work! I had fun! |
