LA TEKDBZ

A super crew brought together by the mighty Photek in 2004. Hand
picked all-stars with a mission to make some noise and be heard. The
sound of TEKDBZ is a unique fusion of hip hop, dancehall, and drum &
bass; a sound only heard once at a sold out show at House of Blues
Sunset Strip. Prepare for a delivery of fast and furious beats
combined with that grimey flavor that only comes from the streets.

SPECIAL GUEST!
CASUAL
of HIEROGLYPHICS (OAK)
http://www.hieroglyphics.com / http://www.myspace.com/smashrockwell

Making many appearances on other Hiero albums such as his verse on \"Limitations\" on the 93 Til Infinity album, Casual made a name for himself by having some of the illest lyrics ever. If you\'ve never heard this kid rip s**t, then you need to go pick up his debut album, Fear Itself (JIVE/Zomba records, 1993-94). It instantly became a hip-hop classic to many fans who were starving for something fresh. His distinctive, deep voice, coupled with the way he changes the pitch in his verses make for an all new style, which heavily complimented hip-hop music.
As if lyrics were not enough, Casual (AKA John Owens) has almost perfected the skill of production. Del\'s \"Catch a Bad One\" was produced by Casual, and remains many Hiero fans\' favorite Hiero cut ever. His skills have been leant to other Hiero members as well. Casual produced a couple of tracks for No man\'s Land, and his voice can be heard on every Hiero album ever published. And for all those Extra Pro fans out there who may not know, it was Casual who noticed Snupe posessed exceptional skills in rhyming, and decided to adopt him into the Hiero crew, so you have him to thank for that contribution!

FEATURING:

PHOTEK (LA / UK)
http://www.photekproductions.com / http://www.myspace.com/photekproductions

The creator and leader of the TEKDBZ movement. This electronic music
pioneer\'s productions are known the world over and his
especially forward-thinking and pristine drum programming is regarded
as some of the finest the world has ever seen.
His accompishments include sound design and scoring for The Matrix and The
Italian Job, and official work with U2, Nine Inch Nails, Gwen Stafani,
Bjork, Zero 7, and Goldie. He has been locked in the studio crafting
several new projects including the TEKDBZ album, Form and Function
2, and a secretive rock project you must keep your ears peeled for.

DJ CRAZE (MIA)
http://www.djcraze.com / http://www.myspace.com/crazearoni

Craze is the DJ\'s DJ. Arguably the most technically skilled
Turntablist on the planet. He has won every major DJ title in existence and was named named
\'Americas Best DJ\' by Time Magazine. This man will rock a party wielding both timeless
classics and the most exciting and innovative beats. Dropping diverse
flavors from old skool breaks and Miami Bass to Hip Hop and the most banging drum & bass on
the planet, fans of talent on the ones and twos must not miss DJ Craze\'s
performance at TEKDBZ.

MENTAL SHARP (PHI)
http://www.mentalsharp.com / http://www.myspace.com/mentalsharp

Inspirited but untainted by their recent notoriety, both Armanni and Sharpness
continue to perform dilligently as if each show is their best and every
fan is their favorite. When asked about their influences they reference
KRS One, Eminem, Outkast, Skibadee and even Korn. MCs Armanni and
Sharpness have taken things to the next level with their hop-hop full
length, \"On n Poppin\' \" which is currently out under the moniker
Mental Sharp. Their prolific talents have graced a growing number of
underground anthems including Farenhiet 215, and Hit Em Hard. Adding
to their many creative accomplishments, MC Armanni is the reigning
Def Jam/Ruff Ryders MC battle champion for 2006, adding even more
shine to Mental Sharp\'s already blinding lyrical star.

HOCHI & INFILTRATA (SD / LA)
http://www.myspace.com/hochidsp / http://www.infitrata.com / http://www.myspace.com/infiltratadj

Hochi & Infiltrata are the next generation of TEKDBZ superstars, with
production credits to there name already putting shame to veteran
producers, these two have proven that they will change the game.
Hochi\'s work with G-Unit, Killa Priest and Joel Ortiz, and Infitrata\'s
work with RBX, and the Visionaries\' LMNO is a strong indicator that
seperately these two are on fire, but together, they will challenge
the way you look at music.

DEADLY HUNTA (UK)
http://thecatch.co.uk

Deadly Hunta started chatting with The Sound System African Roots and
Sky Juice in the early 90\'s, and soon thereafter opened up for Glamour
Kid, Silvier Taylor, Daddy Freddy and many more. In 96, Deadly Hunta
signed a record deal with MCA and ended the year touring with legend
Buju Banton. This should make it very clear that this an artist and
musician of the highest caliber. Backed by the armory of Catch 22
Productions and supporting their epic upcoming single \"Mama Mia\" out
on TEKDBZ in the near future. The dancefloor may very well not be
ready for the energetic flow and vision of this dynamic performer.

MESSINIAN (PHI)
http://www.killmessinian.com

Messinian is a machine. His intense delivery and crazy antics are
known the world over due to his constant touring with the Planet of
the Drums crew. He was unable to make it to the last show in Los
Angeles but this time around he\'s promised to deliver a show like
unlike anything you have ever witnessed. Love him or hate him, he will
be spitting into mics until he is dead.

MC DRE (LA)
http://www.myspace.com/thesonofaking : http://www.myspace.com/andreparnell

Since 2000, MC Dre has been rocking crowds of thousands both at home
in the Los Angeles area and across the country. His unique flow, advanced
delivery, and characteristic inflection complement both his calculated stage
shows and his original music work with renowned Drum & Bass labels
such as Barcode & Tekdbz.

Re: LA TEKDBZ

Got there early for Infiltrata and Hochi. They played a lot of hip hop styles. 2nd to last tune was something Infiltrata worked on with Dre, Morning Light hip hop remix. Very interesting forwarding thinking ish right there!
Next up was the cooky one himself Messinian. Backed up by a female vocalist I didn't recognize and two b-girls including Preying Mantis (who I did recognize) they brought mad energy to the stage. Along with a gorilla and dinosaur bouncing around the stage, this was a sight you just had to see for yourself.
Then Casual came and rocked it with like four other rappers. Pretty ill stuff, hadn't seen him or even heard of him for that matter (there goes my hip hop credibility - doh!)
Hmm who was next? Oh yeah CRAZE! First part hip hop, then some jungle, and back to hip hop. Crazing scratching and tricks as would be expected. I was a tiny bit disappointed not to hear his new Groundhog Day in the club cuz the bass was hitting so hard last night, but alas he did not drop it. Oh well.
Closing up the night was the mighty Photek just about full steam ahead on the dnb tip for the first time in the night. On the mics were Mental Sharp, Questionmark, and some other guy who appeared to be from Mental Sharp but he was obviously not Armanni or Sharpness. Who was that??
Big up to BOB for the dope visuals on what was that 20 television screens? BOB is a soldier! Big up.
All in all I had a pretty fun night minus one minor setback. But yeah other than that it was a dope night! Lots of different angles were touched upon last night and there was a very unique energy in the building. I can't wait to see what comes of it.

Re: LA TEKDBZ

i LOVED this show. this was event of the year so far for me. i was so into how *unique* it was from the dnb events i'm used to. the different format, presentation, and dj's were so refreshing.

i expected production to be on point judging from the 1st show and Danny's rep, and i ended up very impressed! from the dragon and friend on stage to the drop-down screen with the vid "Messinian is a gorilla" lol, and the tv's...loved Craze's hip hop set, loved the booty/b-more whatever that was, always feelin the infiltrata/hochi charisma, missed Origin's set unfortunately, i liked the individual performances of the mc's, DRE really shined. photek brought it home nice and hard. sound was good! drumz clothing was there (love that new rose design!!!).

everyone i talked to was having a good time, i just loved the creativity that went into the event...thanks for throwin all that love into the mix! it was also so nice to see prayingmantis and blaze gettin their dance on up there, it has been awhile since i saw our girls up there! i like how all those mc's and dj's can be on stage but they didn't seem like they were competing for the focus, they all seemed to work very well together and compliment each other.

not sure how casual was, i don't think i was really in there then or i don't remember lol i dunno.

thank u danny and everyone invovled!
