Re: Project sweatshop..if you dont want a bad name....

yo, they swooped up the tix as soon as we paid for 'em at the door. there's no way to verify ticketholders....

but in my experience Project Sweatshop treats their patrons well.... so, i'm sure they (together with Nonstop) will do something to compensate.

Re: Project sweatshop..if you dont want a bad name....

I'd be happy if they brought back the identical lineup and just re-did the party....I don't think we are going to get anything free though. There is no way to verify people who went.

Re: Project sweatshop..if you dont want a bad name....

Parties get broken up all the time and the scene is not made of money, so you shouldn't really be expecting a free make-up party. Project Sweatshop puts it down all the time with Dub and have a very reputable name in the scene, one party getting shut down is not the end of Project Sweatshop. Personally, I am very grateful to have them throwing parties and couldn't ask for anything more

Re: Project sweatshop..if you dont want a bad name....

on the news it said the party was broke up because of an open flame on the stage and exits being chained. I didn't see either of those things. I had fun while it lasted. I can't really blame anyone for the outcome of the party. I just wish I could have seen Kenny Ken.

I highly suggest you get your facts straight before you go slinging such strong language.

I was dealing with the fire marshall the entire time and he acknowledged that the crowd was way under the venue's 2500 capacity. The count HIS staff came up with was 1200.

It is painfully obvious why this event was targeted. In case you havent figured it out yet it was purely political. In light of the recent club tragedies in other cities the Mayor's office of Los Angeles had it shut down so that the media would report on how proactive and responsible they are. It's that simple.

I am always amazed at how quickly some of you turn on your own people. People like you are why there is so much division in our scene. We have enough enemies out there ie, the R.A.V.E Act, the Fire Marshall, the Mayor, the media, etc.

Nonstop is a reputable crew who consistently brings you some of the best events in the country.

I suggest you take some of that negative energy and use it to benefit the scene rather than tearing it down.

yeah...but if they did that...what about all the true dnb heads who dont show up first....we get left out while those fools who just go 2 "club" stand around inside and jack our spots when we would be breaking down the place and making the vibe....

Re: Project sweatshop..if you dont want a bad name....

I love it when the crowd gets a bit awnry because the venue gets shut down. They start demanding free shows. It's the promoter's fault for being "greedy bastards" and such. How quickly and easily it is to shun the GREED of those who have the power to shut the party down.

Ever stop to think just how much money went into that show? Perhaps even thought about how many people are expecting to get paid at that party that just got shut down? What about all the time and effort gone into planning this event?

I'm about as broke as they come these days, so I can relate to the disappointment of not getting your dollar's worth. But what I cannot stand is a lack of compassion or understanding. Do you really think the promoter's mission was to sell out the joint, get as much cash as possible from you all in hopes that the party would get shut down so they could leave early and make bank? Though it is possible (hell, anything is), I very highly doubt it. I'm not going to believe that for one second until you can prove that without a doubt. And for you to be spreading these types of words across a messageboard is dangerous in itself. Support is needed here, not public degradation.

The state of the Los Angeles (and beyond) club/party culture is in jeopardy. I hope you can see that with all the recent shut downs. Steve from 45PSI presents what appears the awful, yet not very surprising truth. It's actually quite clear and evident from the mind of a sensible being. The government (local and national) is up to some real BULLSHIT. With Bush's war, they want to do as much as possible to keep our minds off of things IMO. With 9-11, any chance to "make your streets and nation safer" are going to be jumped on by the authorities as quickly as possible. The Great White and Chicago incidents were like the red sheet hung by the bull fighter in the ring. Well, the matador is now in full effect. We are and will be the target of a nationwide type of mass hysteria; a platform for the political figures to use as stepping stones and vote-getters; a way for the pearly whites to be shown on TV as those "who are doing good for your community."

(Just to be clear, I am all for safety when that is REALLY the purpose. This whole thing is just too see through. Our safety is not their concern here.)

So, the next time you demand a free show, I hope you take the above points into consideration. Or even better, why not try to put one together yourself to show exactly what business ethics are meant to be. You'll quickly learn that even the smallest of parties can turn into the biggest of headaches if the slightest thing goes wrong. Learn a little decency and respect for those who are actually DOING what they can to bring you these gatherings. We have enough adversity staring us in the face. The last thing needed is hard knocks from those within our clans.

Stay positive and spread the love.
