the best description I have for this event was WIERD... this was one of the nicest venues for a rave I have ever been too.
that being said it was a mad house...
It made me feel like an old fart. the homey I rolled with has been raving with me since 1993 and he actually asked me "what planet are these kids from?"
I know that the whole 16 year old girl in a bikini with fish nets and fuzzie boots was the norm but I didn't know it was the obligatory rave uniform. I saw the flyer and it claimed no sitting on the dance floor... the whole place was a massive e puddle. the guy in front of me for the 21+ section tipped the security guard 100$ just for checking his idea...
the back stage of the dnb area was a good time the regular heads smoking mad ganja, but the rest was just crazy... I don't know how to feel about it... it wasn't really whack because it had many good things it was just strange.. there was a girl hugging all the cops one by one.. I'm surprised she didn't get arrested for being f**ked up. there were girls on the trance/house stage getting naked and dancing erotically.... I just don't know what to think...

Party started strong, walked in to Subflo tearing it up and bass that made my clothes shake, hell even had to put in my earplugs (f**k Tinnitus!).
Around midnight I guess the PD made them turn down the music, the mainstage's sound was pathetic, and the DJ at the time was getting a little rowdy (Starkillers I think) yelling out f**k LA and eventually spilt some vodka on the decks.
Went back to the dnb to see Aphrodite but there was practically no bass, yet Zezo still killed it even with the weak sound.
Alright party, not going to hate on them for the sound, cops will do what they do. |

Firstly, MASSIVE shouts to the whole Fresh Events crew, but special shouts to Subflo & Danny United! Thanks for everything you guys!!!!
Sound was definitely an issue @ the DnB stage, seemed like things were OK for the Philly boyz, but something happened toward the end of their set that really f**ked things up and whoever the sound guy was on our stage seemed to not know WTF to do no matter what...ended up having the head sound guy come (~30-45 mins later mind you...AFTER a good 5-10 mins of dead silence & Mentally Sharp freestyles) and he finally got it sorted, tho we did lose some cabs & the low end never really did make it back into the mix...
In all fairness tho, I was told that they had gotten several sound complaints and they were worried about the Marshall coming in and shutting things down....so I guess I would rather not have some volume & party on...
ONE MAJOR COMPLAINT TO THE SOUND ENGINEERS:
You guys treat the vocalists/MCs like we're stupid and don't know WTF we're doing and/or talking about (granted, many don't, but us older cats DO)...I can tell you QUICKLY whether something is f**ked in the mix, we HAVE to be balanced with the DJ mix if not just a little bit higher and not have to be f**kin shouting to get more volume over the mic channel, there is gain and volume not to mention compression that should be applied to keep us in check volume-wise and prevent us from hurting our vocal chords...and you guys should really pay more attention to when an ENTIRE VENUE is complaining b/c they can't hear us OR the DJs...then obviously there's an issue beyond ego and wanting to be "louder"...you wouldn't pull that s**t if you were running sound with The Rolling Stones, so any other vocalist should get same respect...
This was such an issue during Twisted Individual's set that both Revo and myself were damn near ready to walk completely off stage and say f**k it...
Luckily we finally got it sorted proper and hopefully delivered the rest of the evening in good form...was good rockin out with Revo, Type, Armanni & Sharpness for parts of Aphrodite's set & gettin to chill with all the homies I hadn't seen in a hot minute...
As far as the rest of the party, MAN....I dunno if a good batch of pills came into town or what, but it's been a minute since I've seen THAT many people rolling their faces off...It was definitely making me feel "old" and a bit disconnected to see that many KIDS, half naked, or more...and them being THAT f**ked up...WOW...but the energy was GREAT and seemed like all that were in attendance had a FRESH time...

The cops tried shutting the thing down at 12pm, thanks to one hardcore junglist it was allowed to continue till 4 with sound restrictions, the technical difficulties were a seperate issue and something that unfortunately for myself and the artists was out of our control.
Got to big up Nelson and Eligh from Nonstop for the ill set design, you did that one proper, I know the props are the same, but your design is second to noone in this scene.
Tony K + Kemst and Magi brought tha Pure Filth vibe, it was def in the house with a nice view at our downtown highrises.
Got to big up Atlantic Connection for bringing the heat, and the Philly crew, WOW! Not many people can top these guys, Mason, Dstar, Armanni, Sharpness!! Amazing group. |

played a lot of cd-r music fer sure, new Kromestar, Rusko, Benga, Hench, Mrk-1, even played an Armanni Reign/Origin dub!
big up's to the 805 crew in di venue, rockin it steadily!
