Dosent it seem
that children at a very young age now are maturing really fast ?
My friend has a 3 yrs kid, and the baby is always asking her that she wants to play soccer , she knows all her ABC's and she knows where and how the state of Calif. looks like. not just her I've seen other kids that already talk clear and perfect sentences.

Re: Dosent it seem
yup my son Lee is three and he knows his ABC's can count to 10-20 with a little help and can explain to you why it gets dark outside-the earth rotates on its axis, and the sun is on the otherside of the planet right now!
This new generation makes us look like a bunch of ol geezers. My swear my 1 year old can match beats !! |

Re: Dosent it seem
Actually, my three year old used Wavelab on my computer and remixed MIA's "Pull Up the People" and matched the beat!
He's been sitting on my lap watching me make beats since he was three months...I guess it sunk in!
Another musician in the family...its awesome. And yes, they are an amazing generation. Big ups to the future! |

Re: Dosent it seem
i worked for verizon wireless for two years.....throughout the entire two years i remember it being atleast once a week that i was amazed at how these 5, 6, 7, 8 & 9 year old children grab the "demo-display" phones (& pda's!) & conquer them, to say the least. they so easily navigate through the devices & watch videos, record videos, download ringtones, sent text messages, take lots & lots of pictures & many other things.
the main thing that amazes me is knowing that when i was their age i was nowhere near as technologically advanced as they are. i was just playing with g.i. joe's & jumping on bunk-bedz ;P |

Re: Dosent it seem
chilrens minds have always been amazing, the sponge analogy is not a bad one. The kids today are exposed to so much at an early age via technology and society that they cant help but retain some of it.
On the subject of wether kids are smarter or not... have you noticed that school is easier?... elementary school is no longer giving out grades but a bunch of gold stars and happy faces, regardless of how little the child has learned or retained.
children are capable of retaining complex ideas, i think that they are being sold short by parents and educators who are so proud of the job that they aren't doing... children of past generations have never had so much information at their finger tips, take advange |

Re: Dosent it seem
Kids are not only advanced as far as technology goes but all things. My husband and I were having a beer in the kitchen and our three year old tugs on my pants and tells me that when he turns 16 he's gonna drink a beer. We proceed to tell him that you have to be 21 in order to drink beer. So he says, " when i'm 19 i'm gonna drink a beer. We tell him again that he has to be 21 before he can have a beer....in disgust he looks up at us and agrees that he will be 21 before his first beer.
It worried me and tickled me all at the same time. |
