Re: whats an algorithm?
It's basically a mathematical formula used to calculate anything. In terms of sound, you'll see algorithms used in lots of applications from sound acoustics to effects processors to soft synth emulators to plug-ins. |

Re: whats an algorithm?
it doesn't have to be mathematical though. it can be a simple set of instructions too. just a way to find a solution to a problem. |

used in linear sampling to represent the music in your computer or workstation ( old rhyme)rulers of riidim mind melding composition in ya face competetion while you look for problems we see the algorithm |

Re: whats an algorithm?
it doesn't have to be a "problem". algorithm is a sequence of instructions that depend on each other to happen. your computer is making thousand if not millions of algorithms at this moment.
*its also a good title for a dnb track ;]

Re: whats an algorithm?
I like this thread =)
FM? yeah, the method used in a computer program to create a frequency modulated wave is one example of an algorithm ... the resulting output wave is analgous to the solution to the problem of creating an frequency modulated wave.
selekta, excuse me for disagreeing, but wouldn't you consider an algorithm lacking a result is vacuously trivial? ( and isn't arguing over semantic misunderstandings what the web is all about? )
Every instruction executed produces quantifiable results, therefore solving the particular problem solved by those results. |
