Protools users
I'm wondering how many of you guys use Protools. If so what hardware do you use (mbox, 002 ect) and what version. |

At work I use PT 7.2 (beta) on an HD3 system on a Dual 2. G5 w/ 4 gigs ram.
in the field PT 7 M-powered w/ an M-Audio FW-1814 and macbook pro all maxed out.
at home I use Live and then bring it to work to rewire and mixdown in PT sometimes.

What are you trying to do?
I don't like the mbox cause it dosen't support ADAT.
I just use ProTools to track my sampler out for Mastering
the MV8000 with OP1 and an interface with ADAT.
Sometimes I go digital, so I will need the DIF-AT interface box. You go ADAT out of the OP1 into the DIF-AT box. Then you go from that box into your ADAT compatible interface. With this setup I can record up to 8 tracks at a time.
For analog I will end up using the Digi01. The Digi02 or rack should let you do either analog or digital because they both have lots of analog ins and optical ADAT in. The MBox 2 can't do it. With PT-MPowered, my FW1814 will do it because it has optical ADAT. |

I'm on a dinosaur at work. Mac 500 Mhz g4, digi 888 and running 5.1.3 on os 9.2. I have an expansion chasis so i can run more plugins. yeah, not the most robust system.
what do you do for work?

I'm a an Audio Designer for a big video game company. I'm sorry I can't share more detail, I like my anonimity.
I was on an 888 up until november last year, it was nice and stable too.

I'm running Pro Tools Digi 001 with dual 1 Gig processors in a G4 with 1.5 gigs of ram.

Does anyone have a copy of Pro Tools LE 6.4? I lost my auth code so i can't download it from the digi design site.

i use PT but haven't really done anything with it since i graduated my recording arts program.
for the last three months i was using pt 6.4, then 6.9, both TDM. holy f**k was that ever snazzy.
ooh that reminds me, i have to study up. i qualified to get my basic certification paid for by full sail. but i want to get the m and p certifications too. who here is certified, just out of curiosity? |

i use the mbox (6.4) in my home studio w/ a pwrbook g4, for pre-production;
and in the main session room an HD 3 rig w/ 3 196 interfaces+g5 desktop to record vox, and mixdown everything+ record anything live. I find that i dont need tracks for days at home, before i go into the studio. i can get tons of work done on the mbox just bouncing down trax as i go.
at home though im lucky to have a super nasty waves collection...plugins are priceless. makes up for the mbox's shortcomings
