Re: Check out these tunes.. would love some feedback..

I heard your tunes...

I'll keep my comments in regards to the dnb tracks : Nobody Move" and "Sawedoff".

The breaks sounded good, the rearranging of the drum bits sounded pro... you seem to have that down.

I'd say they both have potential and I can see some specific ways to bring them closer to "vinyl" class stuff.

Before I get too deep into an analysis, would you be willing to disclose how long you've been producing?

This will kind of temper how critical I'd be.

Re: Check out these tunes.. would love some feedback..

Around two years? Then I'd say you're on the way. It just takes time.

Intense criticism at this point wouldn't do much but discourage.

I will just suggest some things you might work on to get more toward them being uniquely yours.

"Nobody Move"
- I would suggest cutting it in half and making two songs of it.

Why?
- ragga samples and Eazy-E samples are tough to mesh
- the bassline in the beginning and end sound stylistically different

"Sawed Off"
- I'm gonna guess this is the more recently made one. It just sounds more cohesive, some slight alterations could make this one ready for playing out, seriously.

- I think I see the style you're shooting towards with the bass stabs, but the bass sample seems to need some additional customization. It's gotta be visceral with one hit: make you cringe the first time you hear it.

These are just how I see it, don't take them verbatim... maybe just think about it and do what you feel would work.

What helps me is listening to my track and then to a track I like that is similar to it.

Plus listening to your track like a DJ would, picky as f**k. Then you can change the parts you don't like. Wish I could do that with records.

Do you use only samples or synths, too?

How often do you get into the "studio"? Weekly? Monthly?

Re: Check out these tunes.. would love some feedback..

haha... sawed off is actually the oldest track on there, absolutley no EQing or mastering on it..... and the change up on Nobody Move was totally intentional. R.A.W seemed to like it.. said it had the oldskool jungle vibe that he loves.. and hes a tuff critic to impress...
really appreciate your feedback tho.. where can I hear your tunes?

gotta simple lil setup here at home. Computer, REASON, SONAR, a couple other programs, and AKG headphones.. jump on whenever I get an Idea.. then when its done.. take it to a studio for better monitoring... then mix and eq..

Re: Check out these tunes.. would love some feedback..

Well, s**t... me vs. RAW. I wasn't ready for that type of battle.

Ya know I don't have anything I'm proud to show to anybody. Which either makes me a faker or too sensitive... maybe both.

I use Reason, Recycle... some Cool Edit.

I wish I could reciprocate, I'm more of an arm-chair producer, tho.
