serato / laptop and uk voltage

anyone ever use serato in uk? stateside voltage is 110, uk is 220 i think. do i need a power converter for my serato box or will a plug adapter be fine? my mac laptop should only need an adapter as the converter is built inline w/ the power cable (the white box - it's rated from 110 - 240 i believe). now if i need a power converter for the serato box can i plug my laptop and serato box into a small surge protector and plug that into the converter and than plug that into the power socket w/ a uk adapter?

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

when i played in Belgium i used a converter and adapter for my serato box and just an adapter for my macbook .. if u are staying at a hotel, u can ask them for an adapter.. but i dont know if they will have a power converter. i think you should be able to get by with using a converter and adapter into a U.S. power strip...

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

serato is lameskis. it seems to alway be messing up on stage when i see it in action. cds are more acurate. in all the shows we have done all the dj's request cdj's. never once have i had a request for a serato (mixer with that bs built in or otherwise) setup.Majority rules.

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

I thought the serato box was bus powered? (ie you would only need an us-to uk conversion plug for your mac since the mac power supply is 110-240v)

you shouldn't need a step down transformer- just use the bus power/

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

using the bus power means that u have to leave your serato and laptop up on stage all night...

dont think u would want to be doing that

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

the one thing I don't like about CDJ's is the fact you can't see the comedowns and drops visually.... I like the fact that serato has the visual of the waveform.

I don't know much about CDJ's, but apparently some of the new ones give you a graphic readout of the tracks waveform? What models do this?

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

only time ive had a problem with serato is when there have been s**tty turntables... like grounding issues or messed up needles or tonearm...

u CAN use serato with CDJ's, if u want to avoid this problem

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

not seeing your logic here...

why would you have to leave your laptop up on stage all night? and what difference would it make having the power supply in the same scenario?

I'd rather have one less power cable to deal with.

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

if you don't have a power cable connected to the serato box, you can't unplug your laptop without lossing all sound.

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

i suggested cds cause i just spent 2 weeks in england and it was so ez just to carry around a little cd case. it got me through a couple shows and a couple of radio appearances.

personally i wouldn't travel with a laptop because i wouldn't want anything to happen to it!!! i wouldn't be devastated if something happened to a handful of cdrs

i just had this discussion with somebody. with me being the hater of cdjs of course soley because i suck at them no matter how hard i try. this is why i wanna go the serrato route too.

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

understood, and not to be pedantic, but If I'm the only one touching my laptop and using serato that night- why not turn on the laptop like 5 mins before it's time for me to play? if you are pluging into the clubs dj mixer (for the phono/thruput) -you will have to do a little setup before and breakdown after your set right?

*shrugs*

Re: serato / laptop and uk voltage

like i said... u COULD do it.. if u wanted to be setting up and tearing down whilst other people are on the mixer( just before and after your set). i try not to.
