dude SD has a lot of places for shows......the coors amphitheatre is HUGE and CHEAP and a great way to represent SD as a united city.like the babylon show on 4/20
that was a great way to bring SD in massive type of way.even tough its at embarcadero, its a great attempt to bring SD together for all others to witness.we need more of this! |

ah ha! but its not my friend.....if all the GOOD promoters put our heads and cash together(which would take a lot of planning)we can packit up.just like la or any other city does.if you have an awesome line up with us SD locals and some MASSIVE out of town headliners that the people what to see and possibly never been out to SD people come out the woodwork for it. |

for example.the show on june 28. ican can asure you that there will be outa towners there for the fact that the line is f**ken off the wall!when you book the people the people want to see ....it dont matter where its at.people will go. |

I'd like to see that happen if you can pull it off mr.....
although its quite a challenge to just fill up Canes bar and grill which 45 PSI has successfully done....
I dont think you could get anymore then 1000 people max to an all D&B party in SD and that alone is like pulling teeth....

welllll here's a few things to think about...
1. dimas is right...getting more than 1000 heads is hugely difficult.
2. the fees on that venue have got to be immense, and let's face it, none of us have that kind of cash to just lay down. there aren't a lot of people willing to back something like that.
3. coachella is not a drum and bass festival, it's everything which is why it draws so many people. it also has a huge name attached that attracts people...I would bet that the first year didn't have the draw that it does now, in fact I am pretty sure of that since I think it started as a one day festival.
4. an all drum and bass festival probably would not be welcome at coors. anything that could be called a rave is pretty much shunned by the local venues...they are afraid of having an "incident" like some kid od'ing or something..but who knows, maybe the guys who own coors would be down?
anyways yea if you could pull something like that off, great, but I'm putting in enough work filling my 100 person venue

ok well coors was just a spot i threw up in the air.but yah see you guys the ball is rolling.all it takes is a lot of planning and a WILL. and yes ive planned partys.but thats not important.you see if you take proper legal action your party wont be SHUNED upon.this isnt in the mountains like jujubeats where candykids will drive off a cliff,or otherwise.you have the party poopers of course and people are goona roll or take dope or whatnot but thats everyday activity.whethter you have a party or not. |

if it takes having other genres of music to promote ours,then we have to do what we have to do,BUT our main goal is always gonna be in mind DNB.down size the others,big up the DNB.1000 people is not a massive 10,000 is.......remember EDC......massive, whos to say we cant do that in SD? |

i think the other factor you gotta look at is that la is 8 million people compared to sd's 1 million, now look at the number of people down with jungle in that stat and it looks like la is 8 to 1, that is why it is that much harder to do things in sd. but that doesn't mean it ain't worth a shot. |

DD i applauded your enthusiams but just to let you know LEGAL events get broken up (ie MOVEMENT). Huge events are not only alot of effort but an immense risk!
Also the more promoters that are invovled the harder it becomes (Too many chefs spoil the broth.)
Being in San Diego all my life and in this industry for 11 years I can honestly say it is easier said than done.
Suggestions... take small steps. don't go big when you haven't hit medium... |

DD: You make some good points & your enthusiasm & optimism are awesome! Your views are heavily on the idealistic side VS. the realistic side, which is not bad at all. The money it would take to throw a party of that magnitude would be quite a bit & not a lot of people are willing to take the risk of gambling that much dough.
I'd love to see what you're talking about too!!!! Let's keep our fingers crossed & hope our scene will progress to such events. . . |

and remember that babylon is a free day party FREE day party with that lineup and the fact that its free of course there will be a lot of heads there would they have been able to do that at corrs and keep it free of course not.
not to mention the city is just not having it. movement was totally legal and it still got popped. that was the first massive in sd in three years as well the city of san diego is just not having it
